A Heads Up About Scam Emails…

Hi… happy April.

Just a couple of notes from Kenn

First… I’m going to try out using the sub-headline above to let you know right off the top what each Newsie is about… and the approximate reading time. No sneakies or cute curiosity lines… you make your choice about investing the reading time right from the top. You’re busy, I’m busy… let’s help each other out.

Second… wayyyyy too many scam emails out there about “checking your password” and “this has expired”… and “you have to update this”.

Yes… there may come times when you do have to update something… but gosh folks… be cautious.

I’ve mentioned this in the past…. first thing… ALWAYS run your mouse over any links or buttons in an email. Just run the mouse over it… no clicking…

Either down below in the lower left corner of your browser, or maybe even in a small pop up window… the ACTUAL link will show.

It might say Royal Bank or Home Depot on the button… but if you check that link, it will quite possibly show some goofy long URL in Spain, Russia, India…. just about anywhere EXCEPT the place you thought it was going to go.

Do Not Click. Don’t be fooled by graphics…

It’s hard to make any blanket statement about what’s real and what isn’t… but just take your time and be cautious. If you are in doubt… mail your supplier directly. Don’t Reply To that suspicious email…. go to their site…. find their Help or Customer Support area… ask them directly.

Most sites have a password reset system… it will email your email address on file with reset instructions. If that address is not up to date, then by all means contact them directly.

Or ask COOLCOM. I want you to be safe… and assured. We have a wonderfully responsive Help Desk at https://clientCentre.ca… we can let you know right away. Doesn’t have to be a COOLCOM issue… any email you are wondering about… we can usually tell just by the wording. That comes with over 25 years of handling this stuff.

All good?
