An Email Caution Reminder
A short read

Watch-out reminder for phony emails
I’ve received a few of these myself lately, so I think it’s always a good idea to keep you “top of your game” when it comes to awareness.
I’m talking about those sneaky “notification” and “warning” notices that look official, sometimes have authentic looking logos or labels, and ask you to login to check or authorize an update or change.
The latest one I received was an instruction to “Retrieve Delayed EMails”.
In my past warnings, and I will repeat the advice… I suggested and continue to suggest that you always simply “mouse over” any posted links that ask you to login or go to a URL to perform some check up or authorization duty.
For example… the warning I got posted inks to “Receive all emails” and “Delete all emails” for some apparently temporarily disrupted email. The links however, when I mouse over them, go to a “flowto.it” url with some coding after it. Clearly that is not a COOLCOM email server nor my email address.
Now… the more obvious to me is the instruction itself… quite simply that is not a normal nor ever requested function. However, yes… online things can get a little complicated at times, and its easy to be unsure about an instruction.
So just always be cautious and stay attentive… be slow to click… check that link first.
And of course… always feel free to ask us. Its doesn’t matter who that email is from… if you’re unsure, we’ve probably seen them all and we’ll clarify for you.
Don’t forward the email (unless we ask)… just say “Hey, I received an email saying I need to (this or that)…”. In most cases though, that mouse over will tell you all you need to know.
And if you were wondering… mouse over simply means to run the pointer of your mouse over a link (don’t click), and then check in the (usually) lower left corner of your browser or computer window to see what the REAL address is.
OK… stay safe… more info coming on some new developments to help you do better business online. Thanks again for your attention.
