Every day… new challenges…

If you weren’t aware, the last couple weeks have thrown all kinds of challenges at online enterprise.

This wasn’t small potatoes either… the biggest issue being some major code hacking announcements that put a lot of sever software and sites using it in serious jeopardy. I’m fortunate to have one helluva smart and dedicated right hand man on my team… he’s taking care of all that for COOLCOM and our hosting and mail clients. I know there are many out there not so fortunate.

Then there is a growing issue with Wordpress users not updating plug ins. Most Wordpress installations can self update now (not that they are all actively doing that), but plug ins is another story. Then there are plug ins that are abandoned… like leaving your car keys on the bar and wondering why your car disappeared.

On top of that we had we have time change issues (MB for example, has adopted permanent Daylight Savings time). This is not so much a server issue, as that was easily addressed… it’s special programs that use alternate time source checks, not being upgraded promptly… or even more frustrating… really OLD programs that simply can’t handle the change.

So… can’t move forward if we fail to ensure we’re not falling behind. It’s definitely an awakening to an ever more challenging online world for sure.
